The North Star

Every coast should
know its own people.

The app is the doorway. This is the room it opens into — written for the handful of people we’d trust to build it with us.

Why now

The local knowledge is real. It just lives in the wrong places.

Which beach is good for a family today. Where the carts are allowed past. How long the ferry line actually is. Who to call when you bury an axle in soft sand at golden hour. In Port Aransas, all of that exists — scattered across Facebook groups, a few locals’ heads, and signs you only read after the fine. PocketCoast’s job is to gather it into one place that’s fast, current, and kind to a first-timer.

The arc

Three moves, in order. We don’t skip ahead.

01 · Own one beach town
Be the thing Port Aransas opens before they leave the house.

Conditions, rules, and a straight answer when you’re stuck — good enough that a local recommends it to a visitor. Depth in one town beats thin coverage everywhere. The moat in this move is freshness: every rule in the app carries a source and a review date, and we re-check them on a clock. Anyone can copy our content in a weekend. Nobody copies the habit.

02 · Become the coast’s utility layer
The volunteer recovery network is where this goes.

Nobody else has the trucks, the straps, and the trust. It gets built the slow, honest way: a real season of neighbors actually pulling people out, a lawyer’s eyes on every word, and a way to say thank you — before a single promise appears in the app. Until then the app tells you the truth: call the pros, here’s exactly what to tell them.

03 · Repeat down the Gulf
Mustang Island first — same island, same rules, almost free.

South Padre when someone local owns it with us. Every barrier island with the same problems. The playbook is portable because the pain is identical, and local businesses fund it because we send them the right visitors at the right moment. Beachgoer, volunteer, business — still the three sides of the flywheel.

Read between the lines

The app is our first dataset now — not a questionnaire.

Every open, every “which beach today,” every stuck-help tap during a real Port A summer maps to a build decision. By Labor Day we’ll know from behavior, not surveys, whether this earns a place on a visitor’s home screen. We wrote the pass/fail numbers down before the season started, and we’ll hold ourselves to them.

The line we hold

Unofficial, honest, and on the side of the visitor.

Posted signs and officials always win — we say so on every page. We don’t sell a visitor a bad recommendation. The recovery network is neighbors helping neighbors, not a tow racket. If we ever have to choose between a partner’s dollar and a beachgoer’s trust, the beachgoer wins. That’s the whole brand.
